Focus on Fiber Arts: Fashion show, luncheon will benefit Charlotte Hungerford Hospital

Submitted photo – Ginger Balch A participant in last year’s ‘Go Red for Women” fashion show hits the floor. The event reprises this year as a fundraiser for Charlotte Hungerford Hospital and a promotion for women’s heart disease awareness.

In Sheep’s Clothing, in cooperation with Dress Barn, is hosting their second joint event, a fashion show and luncheon. This year’s event will benefit the Charlotte Hungerford Cardiac Rehab Program, and will be held at the Yankee Pedlar Inn. Local models will showcase the most current fashion trends that Torrington’s Dress Barn has to offer. The event will be held Sunday, May 18, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Members of the CHH cardiac program will be on hand for heart health education. CHH will be providing blood pressure checks, glucose and cholesterol screenings, as well as a speaker on heart health particularly geared towards women, since heart disease is the number one killer of women, a fact that women are only recently becoming aware of.

The Yankee Pedlar will graciously open the lobby for the event, and a light lunch will be provided by Bogey’s restaurant. Attendees will be welcome to place their bids at the silent auction, with items that have been donated by local businesses.

Country Corner Soaps will be on hand selling handmade soaps, and In Sheep’s Clothing will sell handcrafted items, as well as some other vendors. All proceeds from the event will benefit CHH Cardiac Program.

JoAnn Ryan, President of the Northwest Chamber of Commerce, will host the event. If last year’s sold-out event is any indication, ladies will once again spend the afternoon enjoying a wonderful luncheon in the company of other women helping to raise money, and awareness of women’s heart health.

For more information about the CHH Cardiac Program please go to: http://www.charlottehungerford.org/services/cardiology/.

Tickets may be purchased for the event at In Sheep’s Clothing Yarn Shop, 10 Water St, or by calling 860-482-3979. Tickets are $25.
