If you are like me, and are already finding yourself weary of the winter weather, and looking for something fun to pick up your spirits, this coming Sundays’ event is just the ticket.

This Sunday, January 12, from noon to 4 p.m., the Western Connecticut Yarn Council is hosting a knit-along at the Newtown Country Club. Participants are encouraged to spend the day knitting or crocheting baby caps that will be donated to our local hospitals.

Yarns while quantities last are being donated by our participating yarn companies. Berroco yarn rep Andra Asars will be our special guest speaker for the afternoon.

A $10 pre registration fee covers admission, refreshments and entry into a special door prize. The Western Connecticut Yarn Council is comprised of the following yarn stores: In Sheep’s Clothing, Knits & Purls, A Stitch in Time, New England Yarn & Spindle, Nancy O, Westport Yarns, and Black Sheep Yarns. For those looking for an opportunity to do some shopping, all of the shops will be displaying and selling their wares during the event.

Tickets are available for purchase at all of these shops. Tickets will also be available at the door for $15. You can also stop in or give In Sheep’s Clothing a call at 860-482-3979 to reserve your tickets before Sunday.

So grab your knitting bag and a friend ,and prepare to spend the day with other like-minded fiber friends, for fiber, fun, and a good cause.

Virginia (Ginger) Balch knits, weaves and spins in all things “fibery” at her shop In Sheep’s Clothing at 10 Water St. Torrington www.in-sheeps-clothing.com or phone 860-482-3979
