Make Sweater Mittens for Gift Giving

Remember that wool sweater that accidentally went though the wash, and shrunk up almost beyond recognition? Did you find yourself not having the heart to actually throw it out? Perhaps you stuffed away into a drawer or closet to be dealt with later. You are in luck. In Sheep’s Clothing, 10 Water St. has a way for you to make use of that poor sweater, by recycling it into a beautiful and serviceable pair of fleece lined mittens.
This Sunday, December 13, from 10-12. anyone handy with a pair of scissors and needle and thread (no sewing machine necessary) can learn how to make such a pair of mittens. This two hour class will take students through determining the best use of their particular sweater into a mitten design. Pattern pieces will be laid out, cut and then stitched into mittens.
The fleece lining and pattern is included in the $30 class price.

Design options will be discussed, and bringing along buttons, trims, etc, is encouraged, to make your mittens unique to you. Once students see how easy and easy these mittens are to make, they will want to “accidentally “shrink up some more sweaters.
