Diagonal Knit Scarf

This is good for almost any yarn. I like it for worsted weight, but you can double up any lighter weight yarn, or add a lace weight mohair to a multicoloured yarn like I did here. Yardage- Approx. 200 yds. for a 4" x 64" scarf. Needles- # 8 or whatever gives you desired effect. Gauge is up to you.

Co one st. Knit that st. Next row inc one st.

Row 1 & every odd row- Inc into first st, knit up to the last st, inc into it.

Row 2 & every even row- Knit even.

Work these next two rows until you have 22 sts or desired width. (At this point you may want to weigh how much your piece is so you know how much yarn to leave for your end corner.) Continue as follows:

Row 3 & and all odd rows- Inc into first st, knit up to last two sts , K2tog.

Row 4 & all even rows- Knit even.

Repeat these last two rows till desired length, being sure to leave a good handful of yarn to finish the last corner.

Row 5 & and all odd rows- K2tog, knit up to last 2 sts, K2tog.

Row 6 & and all even ro ws- Knit even.Continue these two rows till three sts. remain. Slp 1 K2 tog, psso. Pull tail through remaining st. Weave in ends.
